Health Education Syllabus
Classroom Behavior:
- Respect the other students in class
- Respect the Teacher
- Respect the Classroom
- Follow ALL the Student Handbook Rules
- NO Eating or Drinking- other than cough drops
- NO Cell Phones to be used in class unless permission is given**
- NO Backpacks in the room, must keep in your locker
- Expected to bring ALL class materials each day, especially something to write with
- 1st Period Students- Stand to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance & listen to Announcements
**Students will place their cell phones in their assigned cubby for the duration of the class period. They may use their phone when given permission; otherwise it remains in the cubby. If caught with phone not in cubby, results in a teacher detention for first offense, any time after- the phone will be turned in to the office.
Tardiness: A student is considered Tardy if they are NOT inside the classroom by the time the bell stops
- 1st Tardy- Warning
- 2nd Tardy- Warning with Parent/Guardian Contact
- 3rd Tardy- 15 minute Detention and a Parent/Guardian Contact
- 4th Tardy- 25 minute Detention and a Parent/Guardian Contact
- 5th or More Tardies- Office Referral
Absences and Late Work:
- If a Student has an Excused Absence, they have ONE day to make up the work missed
- Students MUST ASK for their missed assignments
- Students with an Excused Absence of 3 days or more will be given extra time to make up the work
- Work missed for an Unexcused Absence counts as a Zero
- Each student is allowed THREE late assignments, after the three late assignments all missing work will count as a zero and NOT be able to be made up. Late assignments will be for full credit.
Detentions:
- A Detention may be issued to a Student for not following the classroom rules, incomplete or unacceptable work, tardiness to class, or misbehavior or continual disruption of the class
- A Detention will be served before school for 15-20 minutes in Room 305
- Parent/Guardian contacts will be made for all detentions
Leaving the Room:
- Students will not be able to leave the room once class has started. It is the responsibility of the student to bring all materials needed for class at the beginning of each class period. Restroom use will be granted during work time or in emergency situations.
Required Materials:
- Textbook (Everyday)
- 3-Ring Binder 1 ½ inch or larger
- Dividers (You will need 7, one for each unit)
- Pencils/Pens (only pencils may be used on tests & quizzes)
- Notebook paper
Course Syllabus: Health is primarily a Freshman/Sophomore class and is a graduation requirement in the State of Illinois.
